Sledding, Fracture, Thanksgiving!

We were all so sad that we couldn't make our planned trip to Utah for Thanksgiving.  We had been watching the weather forecast constantly and in the end felt like it wasn't worth the risk to travel this time.  (Our experience traveling home from my grandmother's funeral has scarred us for life).  Because the kiddos were especially sad, we thought it would be a fun distraction to take them sledding.  It had been a couple of years since we have had a snow storm that yielded enough snow to go sledding.

Despite the freezing cold . . . the kids loved it!
Crew was a little hesitant to go down the big hill at Chaparral High School - but when he figured he could settle himself to start mid way down, he was awesome.

It was all fun and games until the accident.  It was so sad!  Boston was sledding on his stomach and another little boy slid down at the same time and they smacked into each other hard!  The other boy was totally fine, but Boston just started screaming.  He could barely stand up.  Once Garrett got him up the hill, the only thing Boston wanted to do was go to sleep instantly.  His cheek was red and swollen and he was so nauseous.  It was clear that he had a concussion.  Garrett took him to our local urgent care and they in turn sent us to the ER.  They took a CT scan of his cheek and it showed that he had a fractured cheek bone.  Poor kid!  Trying to keep a very active boy settled for 6 weeks is going to be tough!  We are so grateful that it wasn't worse.

It was  so sweet, the young boy that had run into Boston felt so bad.  We had some connections with the family he was visiting with and he found a way to bring some ice cream to Boston later that evening.  Just so thoughtful!

The next day was Thanksgiving and we were all excited to work together and make our own little Thanksgiving day special.  Lily is learning how to make rolls.  She did such a great job!
After making hundreds of pies all year long with my job - I still have wins and losses.  One of my pecan pies turned out beautifully and the other exploded.

Happy Thanksgiving to my little family!  They are so loved!  I am so thankful for them! We have been truly blessed and I can't thank my Heavenly Father enough!

We were all excited (especially Presley) to see Frozen 2 on Thanksgiving.  It didn't disappoint.
I love this sweet picture.  We decorated for Christmas early because I knew that I would be so busy with the Thanksgiving craze at Kneaders.  After a fun filled day, it was so nice to sit down by the warm fire and watch a movie together.
