Fun Filled Long Weekend
On our way to the circus, Boston says, "mom, look at me. I look like Uncle Sam." (Hat)
Garrett got tickets for the circus from his work. Needless to say, the kids were so excited! I wish I could have taken more pictures - but they were not allowed. I love Lily and Boston's face in this picture - - they seriously had a perma-grin on their faces the whole time.
After the circus, we started the long drive to El Paso, Texas. Garrett's cousin, Anna Marie, was getting married. She had asked Lily to be her flower girl.
The kids were troopers. Thank goodness they zonked out pretty quickly. I am sure they were so tired from the circus excitement. Garrett was such a champ and drove until about 2:30 am to the motel in Santa Fe.
Almost. There!
The rehearsal and dinner was a hit. Cute Anna Marie was so thoughtful and had a couple of games for the kids to play while everyone else socialized.
I love these 2 pictures. Leave it up to a child's sweet imagination. Here is Boston, Lily and Isaac pretending to roast marshmallows by the the fire (aka: lights on the tree)
Garrett's Uncle Greg is known for his amazing BBQ. He catered Emily and April's pre-wedding dinner and so it was so gracious of him to drive his smoker? (cooking gear) all the way from Oklahoma to Texas. Brisket, pork, chicken, ribs . . . the whole nine yards! Everything was so good!
I got a kick out of his sticker! (above)
Stephanie found a great rental house that we were all able to stay in for the weekend. Lily was especially excited to sleep at the same house as her cousins.
Cute Janie is the absolute best! She just loves are little children. She is so attentive to them. She is currently in her last year of medical school and onto Residency. She is going to make such a great doctor!
Isaac and Lily had so much fun playing together!
Grandpa Updike didn't disappoint. He continued his tradition with building a project with the kiddos. Of course, they loved it! Lily and Boston made a cute wooden sail boat.
Cute Boston and Grant
These beads were an absolute hit with the kids.
Our cute little flower girl! She was so sweet and did a perfect job walking down the aisle and dropping her flower petals.
Grant was the handsome ring bearer! Love this cute picture of him!
Lily and Anna Marie
Wedding Dinner - thank goodness for Dad's phone to keep Boston occupied
Boston got a kick out of these wine glasses. He thought they were so cool!
Isaac and Lily were excited to join in on the dancing.
Dancing with the bride. (Lily talked about this several times over the next couple of days. It was a highlight for her.)
Anna Marie gave Lily a pink box for being her flower girl. Lily loved decorating it on the way home.
We bought the same beads that April let the kids play with during our trip. It continued to be a great hit. We did have some arguing a long the way but that was solved by separating the kids. Lily stayed in the back seat of the car. (Thank goodness . . . for our sanity). Crew struggled on the way home - he was so done being in his car seat. Poor kid!
As always, it was so great to be with family!
