Christmas Dinner... Mmmmm!
As we mentioned before, we weren't able to go to either of our homes for Christmas, so we wanted to make it special for just the two of us. And since we both like food - alot! - we decided what better way to celebrate than to have a huge, Christmas Eve dinner together. Now you might be asking yourself - "So which restaurant did you go to since neither of you can cook?" And two months ago, you would have been right - We would have been happy to allow the Outback to provide us with a nice "home cooked" meal. But oh, how times have changed! Christina put together an unbelievable meal that left us both very satisfied. There was sooo much food! We had a 4 pound roast (yeah, I said 4 pounds), tons of mashed potatoes, corn, really big and soft rolls and even home-made gravy (we might not do home-made next time... it may have left a little to be desired), and even a candle to set the mood. And as surprising as it may seem, we ate it all by ourselves... OK, there are tons of left-overs too. We might be eating roast beef sandwiches for the next month, but they are goooood!!

As for the rest of our Christmas, it was fantastic! We got to sleep in, which may not ever happen again on Christmas morning. We woke up around 10am and just took it easy. We enjoyed opening up our presents and really feel blessed. Our families did so much for us and
we are so grateful! Then around 11 or so we made breakfast. We decided to go a little more healthy since the holidays tend to add a few pounds - so we made cinnamon rolls. And since Christina really didn't like the cream cheese frosting too much (it was kinda gross), Garrett had to eat all 4 cinnamon rolls by himself - He didn't want to waste any of them! See, we are being more healthy. The rest of the day was really relaxing too. We each got to talk to our families and again, are so grateful for them. We missed not being able to spend the day with them, but are very happy that they are doing so well. Also, when we were dating, Garrett got Christina hooked on 24, so we just started watching season 2 on Christmas Eve. And once you get going, it's hard to turn off the TV when Jack Bauer is saving the world from terrorists. (Garrett has decided that our first son will be named Jack Bauer Updike... Christina is not quite on board yet.) Finally, we finished the night with a rousing game of Scrabble, thanks to Brian and April. Sadly we realized that our vocabulary is not what we thought it was. We both stink at that game, but it was fun.
