Our First Christmas
Because we are not able to go home for Christmas this year, we decided that we needed to make our Christmas here a special one. So we ventured out into the snowy, cold weather and got ourselves a tree. Luckily, there are a few big forests near by and Garrett wanted to try out his new chainsaw. We searched high and low for hours and hours until finally... there it was! This tree was 10x's bigger and better than anything Clark Griswold ever had. It was perfect! We were soooo excited and knew that it would be the best tree in South Bend. Immediately we began to envision something like this...

Unfortunately, reality soon struck - Our 7 foot high ceilings would not be able to contain this majestic wonder, and Garrett really doesn't have a chainsaw. So instead, we went down the street and paid a guy 35 bucks for our first tree. And we really do love it!
There are a whopping 300 lights on this bad boy! Talk about getting the Chris
tmas spirit in our home. And yes, that's popcorn... strung with lots of love. We spent Saturday and Sunday popping the popcorn and stringing it with a needle and thread. And after 5 bags of popcorn, there was only one puncture wound - pretty good odds, huh? (You can probably guess that it was Christina that didn't know how to use a needle. After Garrett showed her how to use one, there weren't any more problems... OK, it was really Garrett who had no idea what he was doing.)
We really are excited for Christmas. And of course, we are sad that we can't spend it with any of our other family members, but it is still going to be great. Garrett has the whole month of school off; so it will be his turn to know what it's like to be bored while Christina gets to go to work everyday. And the cold weather has definitely hit South Bend. Just last night we got 4 inches of snow and it is REAAALLLY cold! They are predicting more snow tonight. It's too bad they don't have any mountains cause the skiing could be pretty good.

Our tradition is that we buy a new ornament each year, so we're up to 12 on our tree now!
