Boston, the Mighty 6-Year-Old!

Happy Happy Birthday to our Mighty 6 year-old Boston boy!!  He has been counting down to his birthday for weeks.  To say he was excited is an understatement!


He woke up to 6 Balloons!
 Being that it is St. Patrick's Day also  . . .  the kiddos followed the trail of chocolate coins that the Leprechaun left to find a sweet little surprise.

 Rollerskates/Rollerblades has been on Boston's wish list for awhile now.  He was so excited!!



 Testing out his new skates.  He was pretty shaky in the beginning, but this kid caught on quick!
 His restaurant choice for his birthday was Red Robin.

 Boston requested a Minecraft cake this.  (I still don't even know what Minecraft is.  But I found a simple picture and tried to copy it in the most easy way that I could.  Boston was thrilled to help out with the decorating).









We absolutely love and adore you, Boston!!  Happy Birthday dude!

All about Boston:

  • Social King.  Loves his friends and is pleasant to everyone.  Everyone loves Boston.
  • Loves to make noise.  (Even unnecessary noise that can drive people nuts).
  • Does really well in school.  Great reader.
  • He is a daddy's boy.  Loves hanging out and snuggling with his dad.  (Poor mom).
  • Likes to joke around.
  • Loves to play outside.
  • Always wants to help mom when she bakes.
  • He loves learning and talking about nerf guns, swords and bow and arrows,
  • Still whines a lot.
  • He wants to be an astronaut.
  • He loves ketchup with everything.
  • He loves to cheer for the sports team that is opposite to what his dad likes, for fun.
  • Little Caeser's is his most favorite pizza.
  • Loves to play with Lily still.
  • He is usually the very first one up in the mornings and the first one to go to sleep at night.

I have loved this yearly tradition of running the Colorado Bolder Boulder with these amazing women.  Unfortunately, this year I had to opt out at the very last minute due to unexpected foot problems (tendonitis).  I love getting geared up every spring and training every Saturday with such a great group of women.  This picture was taken on our annual Saturday breakfast before the run.  I sure hope to run with them again next year.

Lily is Home!

We got to bring Lily home from the hospital last night. It's kinda crazy to think that this beautiful little girl is ours. We definitely have a lot to learn about being parents, but are sure excited for it. We are especially grateful that our families are so willing to help out with everything. My parents are here right now and then Christina's mother and sister will be coming next week. We feel blessed to always have their support. Here are some pictures from the last couple of days. Here is a very proud grandpa spending time with his little grand daughter. He does such a good job with her and it is neat to see how proud he is. Also, here is one of the funniest little videos. So far, her eyes have been very perceptive, but here, I think she got a little overwhelmed. I think her hands mess with her eyes. We have to keep them covered cause she always is scratching her face. Lily Updike

Just wanted to let everyone know that Lily had finally arrived! She came last night at 6:23pm, weighing 7lbs 4oz and 20in long. She is absolutely beautiful! Christina was an absolute champ during the whole process! Both Christina and Lily are doing fantastic. Here are some pics for you to enjoy.
