Lily - Great to Be Eight!

Our sweet Lily turned 8!!  Such a big year for her!
Waking up to her 8 birthday balloons
Of course she had to have donuts for breakfast

We are so grateful that both sets of grandparents were able to come for her birthday and Baptism.

Lily knew that I was coming to eat lunch with her at school - but she got a better surprise when both of her grandma's and Boston were able to join in also.

Lily was pretty excited that her birthday landed on the 100th day of school

Face paint was a big hit!  She was excited to try her art on all of us.

This year Lily requested to decorate her own cake.

Lily was excited to have her cousin Isaac and Uncle Brian join us for her birthday celebrations.

There is just something so sweet about a little child's baptism.  What a special day it was for Lily and Kaya!  Both were baptized on Feb. 4th.  Everything was just so perfect!  I am so proud of Lily and her decision to be baptized.  She was so ready!

Initially she was worried about everyone watching her . . . but her worries soon disappeared and she was okay with it.  The water was so cold that she was just shivering throughout her confirmation.  Those in her circle included: Her dad, both grandpa's, Uncle Brian, Brother Spear (Bishopric Councilor) and Brother Condie (Adopted Colorado Grandpa).
Lily and I made these little cake pops as a take home treat for those that came.

My heart felt like it would burst from pure happiness as I watched Lily walk up to the stand to share her testimony the day after her baptism.  I told her over and over again that she didn't have to do it - but she really wanted to even though she was a little scared.  It was so cute watching her wait her turn and see her quietly mouthing her words as she was trying to be so thoughtful in what she would say.  When it was her turn she shared such a simple yet beautiful testimony of her baptism.  It was such a precious moment for me to witness.
We sure love our wonderful Lily!!  We know she will be such a kind example of goodness in her life!

All about Lily:

  • Still our little night owl.  Loves to read her chapter books at night.  Her current favorites: The Boxcar Children, Junie B. Jones and anything mermaid and fairytale related.
  • Has a love/hate relationship with the piano.  Loves her piano teacher/lessons but doesn't always want to practice.
  • Her best friends: London, Rylee, and Gwen.
  • Still loves to create all sorts of art.  It is funny to see the back of her school papers - - all filled with drawings.
  • Really dislikes math.
  • Enjoys school for the social aspect.  But does well when she tries hard.  She likes to rush through her work/homework so that she can play.
  • Very kind.  She really is really aware and always kind and considerate to those around her.
  • Still loves Reeces Peanut Butter cereal for breakfast.  Loves beans, chips and cheese.  Loves Chili and Frito chips.  And of course, she absolutely loves anything sweet!
