Our First Family Camping Trip

Garrett and I love to camp, but we have always been hesitant to go since having kids.  It all just seemed overwhelming.  We decided to take the camping leap when we had to scope out the site we booked for youth conference that we are in charge of in a few weeks.

We loved having 3 other families join us on this fun weekend!  We asked Lily and Boston what their favorite thing about camping was:  Hands down - night games with their flashlights.

The only minor setback was the Crewster.  He did fantastic until it came to sleeping.  He insisted on sleeping right on me and it made for one long night.
It was so cute . . . all of the little girls scoured the campground for the wildflowers.  They were in 7th heaven!

The kids absolutely loved playing in this little ditch down a small incline from where we put our tents.  They called it "the bridge."  I went to check on them one time and I just had to smile at their cute little conversations.

The dad's were such troopers to take all of the kids on a hike.  It ended up being a little bit longer than they anticipated . . . which meant at some point, every kid needed to be carried.  Needless to say, both the kiddos and the dad's were wiped out upon their return to camp.

I love this cute face!  He was crying because his eyes hurt.  I wonder why?  Look at that dirty face!

We saw this little plumber's crack all weekend.

I love this sequence of pictures.  They were all so determined to climb this tree.  I loved how Lily's friends did all that they could to try and help her climb it.

I would say that this camping trip was a true success . . . all kids asleep within 10 minutes on the drive home.
